Art lovers rejoice! One of the premier fine art and design shows in the United States is returning to Vanoy Park in Downtown St Petersburg this April. This free event was recently named one of the top 20 art shows in the country by Sunshine Artist Magainze, capturing the attention of locals and tourists alike. The Art
Every April, hundreds of artists from across the Gulf Coast (and far beyond) convene for one of the largest fine art and design shows in the country. This free event will feature some of the best up-and-coming artists (as well as several proven virtuosi) in the Southern United States. This year, the Mainsail Art Festival will welcome painters, photographers, sculptors, metalsmiths, woodworkers, graphic designers, glassblowers, jewelers, and potters who are all vying for $60,000 worth of prizes. These artists are also, of course, selling their unique works to prospective collectors or spontaneous buyers. With over 100,000 visitors expected again this year, there’s no denying that this event is an important weekend for these talented artists.
The Festivities
Besides the wide array of artworks, you’ll also be able to partake in the festivities by dancing to live music all weekend long. The event planners typically book a variety of local R&B, country, and jazz acts, who will perform inside a sizable music tent. Keep an ear to the ground as musical guests have yet to be announced. There will be tap beer, ice-cold beverages, cool treats, and a plethora of hand-held delicacies from local vendors. Families are encouraged to bring their children – they can learn to create several types of art in the “Kid’s Create Tent.”
